The Trichy Corporation has proposed to revamp the existing commercial complex at the Central bus stand.
The Ponmalai zone of the Trichy Corporation has floated a request for expression of interest (REOI) to assess the demands for office space and commercial space in three other spots — TVS tollgate, Ponmalaipatti and Cantonment.
The move was aimed at increasing the non-tax revenue of the corporation which includes rent for its properties.
“We have requested traders, banks and private establishments to submit their demands before January 31, 2020. Based on the demands, the number of shops and the space of each shop will be decided,” a corporation official said.
The existing commercial complex at Central bus stand and the travellers’ bungalow building opposite to the district court will be demolished to facilitate the construction of new commercial complexes.
