Tamil Nadu records highest property registrations in three years

Official sources here on Monday said that October 29 this year witnessed the second highest number of land registrations with a total number of 20,307 documents were recorded on that day

Sub-registrar offices across the state registered highest property registrations on Monday numbering 21,341, generating a revenue to the tune of Rs 110 crore to the government.

Monday was the last auspicious day of Tamil month of ‘Karthigai‘ before the commencement of ‘Marghazhi‘, when a section of people generally do not register land documents.

Official sources here on Monday said that October 29 this year witnessed the second highest number of land registrations with a total number of 20,307 documents were recorded on that day, which was 19,769 on September 14 since STAR 2.0 (Simplified and Transparent Administration of Registration) was launched, pushing the online registrations process to the cyber space from February, 2018.

Surprisingly, the highest number of land registrations are being registered in 2020, after the registration department resumed operations following the outbreak of Covid-19.
