Soon, scan and pay property tax in Mysuru

Starting Monday, the MCC will geo-stamp residential and commercial properties after measuring the property, checking the number of floors and the building-usage purpose.

Mysureans needn’t enter property details every time they have to pay building tax or bills. In a unique experiment, the Mysore City Corporation will soon paste quick response (QR) codes on every property in its jurisdiction to help citizens use its online services effectively. Citizens can scan the code on their smartphones to pay taxes, water and other bills.

Starting Monday, the MCC will geo-stamp residential and commercial properties after measuring the property, checking the number of floors and the building-usage purpose. The staff will take photographs of properties from three sides for geo-stamping – the process of attaching location information with photos of the surveyed properties for online use.

Later, a QR code sticker will be generated and pasted on each property. This will be operational likely from April. MCC commissioner Gurudatta Hegde said, “We will focus on commercial buildings and hotels first. We have started generating GIS-based PID (property identification) numbers and stickers. Once a QR code is scanned, it will provide links for payment of property tax and voting for Swachh Sarvekshan survey.”
