The Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) will begin the process for geo-tagging all residential and commercial properties in the city from Friday.
The geo-tagging is being done under the Smart City project.
The civic body will begin survey of residential and commercial properties from Friday where its officials will will got door-to-door to collect information on the properties.
According to RMC, the objective of the exercise is to plot all the properties on the map of Rajkot. The information will be made available to citizen through a dedicated portal. A special mobile application is also being developed for this, RMC officials added.
The civic body has appointed an independent agency to complete the survey of all the units. The agency will also survey underground electricity cables laid by power distribution companies, telecom firms and other agencies. The geo-tagging of underground utilities will be helpful when need arises in the future to dig up the roads.
