Notices to 13 architects for violating building plan norms

The architects, who allegedly misrepresented facts, submitted fraudulent documents and failed to deposit the requisite fees, have been asked to furnish their replies within a week, failing which they will be blacklisted by the department.

The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon has issued show cause notices to 13 architects working with its planning wing for allegedly violating the norms of online building plan approval system on Thursday.

The architects, who allegedly misrepresented facts, submitted fraudulent documents and failed to deposit the requisite fees, have been asked to furnish their replies within a week, failing which they will be blacklisted by the department.

MCG district town planner RS Batth said around 30 architects are working with MCG for building plan approval under the Haryana Online Building Plan Approval System (HOBPAS). The urban local bodies (ULB) department has issued guidelines that need to be followed while applying for approval of building plans.

After complaints were received regarding violations in building plans, MCG commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh had directed the planning wing to look into the matter. During the inquiry conducted by assistant town planner Siddharth Khandelwal and others, these 13 architects were found responsible for irregularities.

“These architects had applied for approvals under HOBPAS. While checking the data provided by them, it was found there were violations on their part and they were adopting unethical practices which were against their professional code,” he said.

Batth also said that the department has written to the ULB department to block their registration numbers till the time they submit their replies to the notices.
