Notices to 10 plot owners in DLF-1 for violating NGT norms-DTCP

A DTCP team inspected the licensed colony of DLF-1 after receiving repeated complaints from residents about rampant violations of construction norms. During the inspection, the DTCP staff noticed several violations of NGT norms.

Ten plot owners in DLF-1 have been served notices by the enforcement wing of the town and country planning department (DTCP) for violations of National Green Tribunal (NGT) norms and not following due process to keep a check on pollution during construction.

A DTCP team inspected the licensed colony of DLF-1 after receiving repeated complaints from residents about rampant violations of construction norms. During the inspection, the DTCP staff noticed several violations of NGT norms.

The team also visited buildings that owners had demolished for new construction without taking anti-pollution measures.

District town planner (enforcement) RS Batth said these plot owners had kept building material in the open and the construction site was left uncovered, causing pollution in nearby areas. “Due to the poor air quality index, DTCP is a keeping vigil on construction sites,” he said, adding that DTCP will act against polluters.

Apart from these property owners, many others were also issued warnings to adhere to pollution norms, said another official. “The offenders are under directions to take proper measures within ten days to ensure pollution is not caused due to their construction activities, failing which we would take action against them,” he said.

A DLF-1 resident, pleading anonymity, said that the ongoing construction work in some buildings involved violations such as dumping of construction material on roadsides, not covering these buildings and not maintaining social distancing among workers.

Earlier, the DTCP had announced that the officials would issue challans to property owners flouting NGT norms.

DTCP had even roped in local councillors to put together and share an inventory of buildings where violations had happened.
