Manesar civic body divided into seven zones for better governance

While zones 1, 2 and 3 are residential areas, zones 4, 5 and 6 are industrial zones and zone 7 is a predominantly rural zone.

In order to provide better governance, the Municipal Corporation of Manesar (MCM) has been divided into seven zones. MCM commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh issued an order specifying the zones for the new corporation.

While zones 1, 2 and 3 are residential areas, zones 4, 5 and 6 are industrial zones and zone 7 is a predominantly rural zone.

The rationale of including a rural zone in MCM is that the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) is in the process of acquiring huge chunks of land in this area and it would ultimately be transformed into an industrial zone, MCM officials said.

“It is a new corporation and we have decided to divide it into smaller administrative units. While the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) has four zones, we have created seven in Manesar because smaller units are convenient for both the administration and residents. The seven units will have their own identities,” MCM commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh, who is also the MCG chief, told TOI.

The municipal corporation will have two engineering divisions for effective supervision of development work. The commissioner has also assigned duties and departments to 25 MCG officials for their additional responsibilities at MCM.

Zone 1 of the MCM includes sectors 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 95A, 95B and 99A and Garhi Harsaru, Gopalpur, Wazirpur, Dhorka, Hayatpur and Meoka villages. Sectors 81, 81A, 82, 82A, 85, 86, 88 and 89 and Badha, Sikandarpur Badha, Nawada Fatehpur, Rampur and Lakhnola villages fall under zone 2, while sectors 77, 78, 79, 79A, 79B and 80 and Naurangpur, Bar-Gujjar and Shikohpur villages come under zone 3.

Similarly, zone 4 includes Sectors 87, 96, 97 (part), 98, M9, M10, M12, M13, M14 and M15 and Jhund Sarai (Viran), Jhund Sarai (Abad), Bhangrola, Kankrola, Naharpur Kasan villages and sectors M3, M3A, M4, M5, M6, M7, M8 and M11 as well as Dhana, Basharia and Baskushla villages come under zone 5.

Sectors M1, M1A, M1B, M1C, M1D, M2 and M6A and Khoh and Manesar villages come under zone 6. Meanwhile, zone 7 includes sectors P1, P2, P3, P4, P5, P6 and P7, as well as Kasan, Sehrawan, Nainwal, Fazalwas and Kukrola villages.

“We will be deputing junior level officers to assist these officers in a day or two. There will be a few more additions at the senior level too in consultation with the state government, so that officers are assigned their duties and our target of 100 days, which we had set for ourselves, does not get extended,” the MCM commissioner said.

Singh has also invited the sarpanches of Manesar villages and RWAs of areas falling under MCM for a meeting on January 10. Officials said the meeting is to understand the problems faced by the residents.

The commissioner will also hold another meeting the same day with former sarpanches and other stakeholders of the 16 villages added to MCG limits.
