JSM Construction wins $34m contract for Hume station in Singapore

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore has awarded a $34m contract to JSM Construction Group for the completion of civil works at Hume station on the Downtown Line.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore has awarded a $34m contract to JSM Construction Group for the completion of civil works at Hume station on the Downtown Line.

The Hume station is situated between Hillview and Beauty World stations, along Upper Bukit Timah Road.

LTA said that a station box with basic structural provisions was previously built for the station.

The scope of work under the contract involves construction of a station entrance, ventilation shaft and fitting-out works for the new station.

The new station, which is planned to be opened in 2025, will serve the existing residential developments along Hume Avenue.

It will also provide convenient access for members of the public to the Rail Corridor (Central) and Former Ford Factory.

JSM Construction will also be carrying out the extensive installation works including architectural, plumbing and sanitary requirements.

LTA said that a majority of these works will be executed after train services have stopped and when the operator is not carrying out maintenance works, as Hume station is along an operational line.

In addition to electrical and mechanical (E&M) services, the station will also require the installation and testing of rail systems.

The rail systems for the station will be acquired from the incumbent contractors who had previously supplied them for the Downtown Line.

Meanwhile, the contracts for the E&M services at the station will be awarded later this quarter.

Upon completion of the installation works, the testing will also be performed before opening the station for passengers.

The contractor is currently executing addition and alteration works at Pasir Ris station along the East-West Line.

Furthermore, it had previously worked on constructing additional platforms at Choa Chu Kang MRT/LRT station
