China has now started its activities near the North East Indian border. China has constructed a strategic highway close to the Arunachal Pradesh border. The highway connects to the south-east region of Tibet. There is also a 2 km long tunnel on this highway. This highway is one of China’s most ambitious projects and will connect China with other cities of Tibet. This highway can become a threat to India’s security.

The 67.22 kilometre long highway connects Pad Township in the Chinese city of Nyingchi with the Baibung Township in Medog County which is near the border of Bishing village in Arunachal Pradesh. Bishing village falls in the Gelling circle of Arunachal Pradesh, touching the international border between India and China at McMahon.

McMahon Line is the boundary line between India and China. But this line is not accepted by China, who claims Arunachal Pradesh to be a part of its territory. China has repeatedly claimed that Arunachal Pradesh is part of southern Tibet. However, India strongly rejects any Chinese claims over Arunachal.
